Frequently Asked Questions

Does this use AI to analyze my error?

No — this is deterministic pattern matching (regex) against a bank of known error signatures, not an AI model. We're explicit about this so you know exactly what you're getting: reliable matches for known patterns, not a general-purpose interpretation of arbitrary text.

Is my error text sent to a server?

No — matching happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing you paste is transmitted anywhere, which matters since error messages sometimes contain internal hostnames, file paths, or other details you may not want to share externally.

What if my error isn't recognized?

The pattern bank covers common errors across Windows, Linux, Git, Docker, Kubernetes, DNS, networking, SSL/TLS, and mobile — but it's not exhaustive. An unrecognized error will show a fallback pointing to this site's broader troubleshooting resources instead of a fabricated guess.

Why not just use AI to analyze any error?

That would require sending your error text to an AI API, which this site doesn't currently have set up, and would mean your (possibly sensitive) error text leaving your browser. Deterministic matching keeps this tool 100% client-side and privacy-preserving, at the cost of only recognizing known patterns.
